My Story
MrFossil began as a spark of curiosity almost five decades ago, as I wandered riverbanks and quarries searching for pieces of Earth's ancient story. Each fossil unearthed felt like holding hands with a trilobite, mammoth, or ammonite across millions of years. Over the years, this deep love for collecting and learning grew into something much bigger - a drive to share fossils and their stories with everyone, not just seasoned collectors. My journey has wound between dusty backroads and vibrant classrooms, often reaching small Appalachian towns where hands-on science is rare. In time, I discovered a second creative adventure: growing and shaping gourds into art - sometimes quirky, sometimes elegant, always original. Today, MrFossil is more than a collection; it's a family-operated invitation for all ages and backgrounds to explore ancient wonders, create, and connect in friendly, approachable ways.

Roots and Values
Curiosity is at the root of everything we do at MrFossil. With every fossil, each hand-shaped gourd, and every class or hunt we lead, our mission is simple: open the door for anyone to experience the thrill of discovery and creativity. We keep things affordable, especially for families and beginners, because natural history should be for everyone. Our workshops welcome folks young and old, while our outreach focuses on underserved Appalachian communities where hands-on science is a real treat. Every piece is grown, picked, or crafted by hand, and our family-run approach means you'll always chat with a real person - usually me or a relative - ready to share tips, local stories, or a fossil identification trick! Join us and let's unearth the wonders that connect us all.
